Adam Dread in the Nantucket Independent

Adam Dread is working with fellow attorney David Randolph Smith and restaurant owner, Randy Rayburn to overturn the Restaurant Carry Law allowing guns in places that serve alcohol. Dread spoke to the Nantucket Independent this week and discussed how the plaintiffs suing the state of Tennessee are not suing for money, but for the temporary suspension of the potentially dangerous law.

"We are suing because allowing guns in bars violates OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) legislation. Employees serving alcohol are at risk if they are serving to people who are armed...This is bad. It's common sense that alcohol and firearms don't mix."

Dread, Smith and the rest of the coaltion are working hard to develop public awareness and support for this issue. A Facebook group, Guns and Alcohol Don't Mix, has been created. 4,700 Facebook members have joined to speak their mind and raise questions and concerns, as well as show their public support.

The hearing for the lawsuit has been set for Monday, July 13, 2009.
