Guns in Bars Law Hurts Tourism

According to a recent article in the Tennessean, the recent guns and bars law is a threat to Tennessee's tourism. International press has been given to the guns and bars issue, and neighboring states that compete for tourism.

Butch Spyridon, CEO of Nashville's Convention and Visitors Bureau states:

"As the economy (took a turn) other cities and hotels used a lot of...negative sales tactics...Without question some cities, some hotels, will utilize whatever tactics are at their disposal." In other words, competing cities are using the guns and bars law, that allows guns in establishments that serve alcohol, as a way to lure tourists out of Tennessee!

Putting a "no guns allowed" sign in the windows of establishments opting out of this law doesn't help either. The need for these signs furthers paints the picture that Tennessee may not be the safest place to visit, which couldn't be further from the truth.
