When firearms are allowed, bars' and restaurants' liability insurance skyrockets, leading to higher prices for food and beverages
Guns in Restaurants - The Cost to the Business Owner
Allowing guns in restaurants that serve alcohol is largely an issue of dollars and cents - and not commonsense. The new legislation comes with a heavy price tag for the restaurant owner. Higher costs for the restaurant/bar owner trickle down to the consumer. In today’s economy, no one wants to add to higher costs.
According to the new legislation, those carrying firearms are prohibited from drinking alcoholic beverages. If a patron is packing a gun, but not purchasing alcohol they are taking the seat of a non gun holder who could be purchasing alcohol, tipping the bartender and providing much needed business to the establishment.
This is not to say that gun owners and holders needn’t be welcomed into a restaurant/bar, their business is needed too. However, the patron sporting a pistol will most likely be spending less than the patron legally allowed to purchase high costing alcoholic beverages, raising revenue for the restaurant/bar owner. Higher costs for the restaurant and bar owner trickle down to the consumer, as rising costs force drink prices up.
We want to enjoy nights out safely, and want to be able to afford it too!
